X5 Not Responding HELP

Hey guys, newly registered to the forums but I have been reading these guys for months, you are all very knowledgeable and I'm praying someone has experienced this problem before.

I have an X5 that worked perfectly for the past two months or so, then all of the sudden it turned off and WILL NOT TURN ON. It does not respond to any buttons, no hard reset, the battery is fully charged, the backup battery was replaced. When I first put the axim in the cradle the power button glows orange on the unit then disappears.

I bought this unit from a good friend and I am aware that it is refurbished, but I can't imagine why it would just simply stop working.

HELP!

Obviously electronic devices can go bad. How can you be sure the battery is charged? It probably won't help, but you could try charging it in the spare battery slot in the cradle and then put it back into the Axim.

There is at least one place that will repair Axim (try a search on the forums for 'repair') but I suspect the cost may not make it worth having it fixed.

Try removing both batteries for 20-30 minutes, put them back in, and try starting it up after that.

If the back battery were dead, would the x5 respond if it was sitting in the cradle?

It should work with the power supply connected without any battery in place. I'm assuming it would also work with the battery in place even if it were dead but I've never had a completely dead battery to test this.

deceit2k5, you might try plugging the power into the X5 directly (both with and without the battery - when doing it without the battery, put the outside battery door back in place since the device will not work when it is off) to see if it will start up.

I'm sure you already checked this, but make sure there are no cards in the SD/CF slots --- there could be somethign wrong with one of those (likewise make sure they're clean and nothign could be shorting them our)

You mentioned it won't respond to a hard reset. Have you tried a soft reset?

I don't know if the X5 uses the same technics as an Compaq/HP PDA. But if it does then the batterypack has a tiny fuse. This fuse often blows in HP PDA's. Results are the same as the problem you discribed.

Can someone comfirm that the Axim also have a fuse in the powerpak?
