Well this is proving to be much more of a problem then its worth.

I have a Linksys wireless CF card, I took it to my tech guys here at my University and they set it up best they could its getting a strong signal, everything seems to be connected, etc, but it dosent get ANY internet at all.

I can't figure it out adn I wanna see if you guys can help eme out, I looked at the connection settings and stuff but it dosent say what should eb hook up how, etc. Its a pain in the ass adn not very user friendly at all, what the hwll was microsoft doing, this crap is too complicated.

Fellas, as far as I can see its got a strong connection, they put in the proper codes, etc. I don't know anything else about their wireless network, please see if you can help me out.

I am willing to get another CF flash WiFi card too, if you think it'll help, but if this one seems to work with no internet I cant see why another one would either without the same problems.

I doubt its your wi-fi card. I had issues when i installed mine but I figured them out rather quickly. Under the connections area you should have a new drop down that says Internet. If so select that one.

Also I have found that you need to wait 15-30 sec after putting the wi-fi card in or after powering the unit up with the wi-fi card in before you can get on the net with the wi-fi connection

Look in the tutorial section under the stop lugging that cradle around to sync your Axim. AximAdmin had some detailed instructions on how to setup your wireless network. I have a Netgear MA701 CF card on my and it's working on mine. My biggest problem in the beginning was not setting the Settings_Connections_ to Work for all three. Also Netgear has a utilities to show you connection status, what wireless network are available, signal strength, IP status, etc...

Well fellas it looks like its a problem with Pocket Internet Explorer, kinda like I thought sice right when you input the url adn press return it dosent even look it automatically goes to teh default page.

I installed Netforce 3 and that works, the only problem now is that netforce takes like 1 min to load up then I get a error but then it works, pretty inconvenient.

I don't know what to do for web access that isnt so complicated, oh well.

Anyone know of a newer version of PIE or any other web browsers for PPC?

thx fellas.

I have a LinkSys and it works great, so far!

I had to manually enter the DNS settings in the Network Adapters section under settings for PIE to work?

Or the second option also worked, on your wireless gateway put the gateway's ip address in as the first DNS server and then the other two DNS addresses as 2 and 3, these are from your ISP.

Living by faith,

NM,

Have you tried deleting your cookies, history, and temp files?
This has resolved many issues I had with IE on desktops. Worth a shot here...

I agree with rhyno. Try cleaning up any "left-overs" PIE may have lying around. When I wrote that tutorial on networking your Axim over wireless that haiongolf referred to, I basically went step-by-step on my own Axim and made it work. I am using the regular PIE that came installed on it. Shouldn't be a problem. I agree that MS could have done a better job at putting all the settings in one place, or creating a wizard of sorts to walk you through it all.

I have a Linksys WiFi router CF setup... .and it worked the minute I plugged everything in -- minus the fact that I had to disable the Proxy setting in 'connection' (by default it points to 127.0.0.1 localhost)... after that internet worked flawlessly...

With many Universities and large businesses you have to VPN through the Access Point. This disables people from being able to drive up in a car with a laptop and wireless card and hack into the network. Pocket PC 2002 supports VPN connections natively. You can ask your network administrator for a VPN login and password if that is the case. It's similar to creating a dial-up connection, once you are attached to the AP, you just click it and it dials through the AP and authenticates you to the network. Even if you are connecting to the AP and even if you are getting an IP address doesn't mean that you can surf the net or have access to network resources.

Another thing is that you might want to check is WEP. Some networks are setup with WEP encryption, if so, you should enable it using the tools that were installed "Wireless CF Card Monitor", under this you should see an "Encryption" tab. Talk to whoever set up the wireless network for the correct info.

Hope this helps.
