eemorgan2,

I have the WM2003 OS on my X5 Advanced, and the following steps got the WiFi part of this Sandisk card to work for me....

Download the latest drivers from Sandisk here:
http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/Default.aspx?CatID=1110

With the CF card NOT inserted, install their software to your X5 in Main Memory, and when the installation finishes unplug the X5 from your cradle or sync cable and then do a soft reset.

If you get an Unrecognized Card error after the soft reset when you plug in this CF card for the first time, type the driver name "prismnds.dll" (without the quotes) into the pop-up message box. Unplug your CF card, then replug it back in, and your X5 should finally recognize the Sandisk CF card. You likely will find that you have to manually re-plug in this Sandisk CF card once or twice after each power up to get the WiFi to work properly.

I got only the WiFi part of this Sandisk card to work reliably on my X5 with the WM2003 OS - that seems to be the case with ALL X5 owners. The 128MB memory of this card is pretty much useless, since it keeps getting erased whenever you unplug/replug the card and/or when you turn your X5 back on with the card already plugged in. As far as I know, there's no solution or workaround for the 128MB memory problem on the X5 with this Sandisk card....

Good luck! :approve:

Right. The X5 does NOT have SDIO. From what I understand, all of the other Dell Axim PPC models do have SDIO.

What's your question have to do with the topic of this thread on the Sandisk CF 128MB + WiFi combo card?

If you have an unrelated question/topic, PLEASE start a NEW thread! Thanks!

I thought wifi cards were SDIO because they were peripherals

Nope.

The vast majority of peripherals for the Pocket PC are Compact Flash, not Secure Digital.

That is likely to change though, as new SDIO peripherals are being offered all the time, and SDIO peripherals are almost always considerably smaller than their CF counterparts.

However, I doubt that CF memory and peripherals will go away anytime soon....

If you're running WM-2002 you will not be able to use the SanDisk WiFi 128mb CF card. I also had the same issue untill i upgraded the ROM to WM-2003. I then retrieved the latest drivers from SanDisk website and installed them. I am able to use the Wifi part of the card but not the 128CF portion. Unfortunately when I plug the the CF card in it prompts me the reformat the card, I select no and then it works just fine. :)

It sure does!

That depends. While I was struggling to get it working for WiFi it recognized the memory card, but WiFi wasn't working. Now that I've gotten the WiFi to work, it doesn't see the memory card, but thats OK by me. I bought it for the WiFi CF, and plan on using an SD card for extra memory. Bottom line is it works as a WiFi card and can be had for around $30 delivered if you look hard enough. If you decide to go with it, make sure you use the installation instructions that qouvadis7 provides (above). You'll save yourself a lot of time and headaches.
(Thanks quovadis7)
