Want to maximize my Dell.

I love this site... There is so much information, where does a newbie begin? I recieved my X5 as a birthday present, it came with the Dell wireless card, cradle, and a travel sync cable for $50.00. The person it was purchased from did not realize that it was the advanced
So far I have loaded the GSPlayer (love it), installed the fix for Messenger (love it), Cambridge network tools (unbelievable)! also have the Biz CF radio, a must for travelers!!!

What else can be done to make it better? :approve: :approve:

Replace Pocket Word with Textmaker from www.softmaker.com
For better Excel compatability, try Planmaker from the same website to replace Pocket Excel.

Of course, that's assuming you want to do work with it. Otherwise, check the Ebooks threads, Advanced Explorer or Resco Explorer for file management, FTP, and Regedit abilities.

PocketHTML.net for webdesign
Look throught he forums for other great software.

Grab a folding keyboard for better typing while on the go.
Get a decent case such as the RhinoSkin Titanium to protect your investment.

**GOSH** What a concept, you mean you can do actual WORK with this little toy??? (suprised look)

Media
Photoviewer: download the 'free' upgrade from the MFG website, the XP shrink/sync tool is a must have.

TCMP Video player(free): MPG4 video on your handheld.

Task switching: Vbar or Small Menu is a must have. Both are free.

Adobe Reader 2.0 for PPC if you look at PDF files at all.

Tweeks2k2: (cheap) force Qvga programs into vga mode.

SKtools: (Inexpensive) lots of must have utilitys (that should of been included for free)in one package. A must have.

File browser: dTree or Totalcommander. Both are free.

Network: Pockethosts, NbstatCE and vxutil. All free and must have if your going to use Windows networking file shares.

Finally, with the price of 1GB flash memory being so cheap, I bought a 1GB SD *AND* CF card for my x51v and installed all addon programs on the SD card and use the CF card for media.

just my 2 cents

That's the reaction I get all of the time. The mind blower for a lot of my co-workers was the version of PocktCAD I had (GenGISCAD iI believe).

I know most of the users do at least a little work with it, but mine has replaced a laptop completely. :approve:

I also use
GPXSonar for Geocaching
Tipster for a tip calculator
Tascal Search for repalcing that useless FIND feature
PHM Power Toys has a Reset feature that will really save the softreset button on your Axim.

OK, and a few games
Age of Empires
Dopewars
ZioGolf

I am getting close to phasing out my laptop as well. DO you think there is a better Axim?

Wow, these are all great ideas. I use a virtual keyboard with my Axim to get more productivity out of it. One question... How do you install programs to the SD card and get them to show up in the menus?
