Word Completion
Is there a way to edit the Word Completion list? It would really improve data entry time if I could add my own words. I have added things like my last name to spell check but it dose not show up in word completion. For that matter can I edit the spell check list. (what if I mistakenly tapped add for a mispellad word?)
Thanks for any insight,
Kevin

No, but it does learn words you type often...
Beware it does lose them after a soft reset.

Try third-party solutions like Fitaly. Fitaly not only lets you enter text quickly but also provides a lot of short-cut functions. For instance, you can assign 'hs' to 'hesse'...

I found that it loses them even without a soft reset. The whole thing seems to be a little erratic. I doubt it is a problem with the Axim though as I kind of remember seeing this with the Jornada 568 as well.
Also, I see that the time the autocomplete words is displayed is erratic. Sometimes the suggestions disappear very fast and yhou end up tapping where you did not intend, which in most cases causes the PocketPC to learn an incomplete word. These incomplete words may end up pushing the valid words that it learned off the list.

It would be nice if someone could make a freeware app to edit this, I believe there is a DB file, if it could be reverse parsed, deciphered, and then an editor made, that would be nice.

I did snoop thru the databases at one time and I could not find anything that looks like learned autocomplete words. Probably they are just in the plain old memory.

IN that event... something will have to be done about the "msdict2.lex", there is a reference to that in the registry... I wonder if there are any software out there to edit .lex files, if so, then something might be abel to be done about this...
As for the user-entered words being in RAM, that is quite possible, why else would it erase after SOFT reset?

I am not gonna bet my life on it, but that file sounds like it belongs to the Pocket Word spell checker.
