ROM Upgrade Hangs

I recently tried upgrading the ROM on my X5 to Pocket PC 2003. I used Dell's CD upgrade software and followed the directions to the tee. Everthing seemed to be working fine - even though the screen on the Axim was dark I could see it progressing through various steps. It was processing the 10th of 13 steps when a message came on the screen that said "checksum error". I knew this was a bad sign. Everything stopped there and now the Axim is not functional and it won't communicate with Activesync.

I've tried hard resets, removing and reinstalling activesynce, etc. Nothing works.

Has anyone had this happen and is there a way to fix things?

Thanks for any help!

The recommendation is to grab a ROM update file from Dell's website. What about using the original ROM that I backed up on my PC before I started all this? It should work too, right?

Hey, this really works!!!!!! If your ROM upgrade didn't work and your Axim appears to be fried give this a try. It worked on my first attempt!

Thanks for steering me here. The folks at DELL basically threw up their hands and told me the Axim was shot.
