wifi/symbol LA-4137 help needed...

I have searched all over the axim site but still not sure of what to do.

We have the x5 and the symbol spectrum24 LA-4137 CF card. We downloaded the drivers that came with the card we bought on ebay but the was a page that came with a website for newer drivers. Unfortunatly, the site no longer exists. Also the lings I have found here on the forum no longer work. Looks like symbol no longer has the drivers available.

What sould we have our settings at? We us PPC 2002. We are on dial up at home, but hope to use the dells at airports and other free areas.

All help is appreciated!

Welcome to Aximsite Doodletots. A couple of questions...

1: Did the original drivers for your symbol cards not work?

2: How many X5s are we talking about?

I just looked and this site works for me. The PPC02 drivers are the third ones down in the table.

Not sure if they work. We don't know what would indicate that they work. We do get a icon in the bottom right corner of the start up screen. We have 2 axims.

Thanks Ike. I think we tried to use that version. Is there a way to check the axim to see if the drivers are installed? What other settings should we be using to use free wifi (infrastructure? Ad-Hoc? work/internet settings? etc).

The Symbol drivers put a small icon in the lower right corner of the Today screen when the card is inserted.

Check the WiFi Guide linked from my signature for answers to most of your questions but certainly post back if you can't figure out something.

I do see the small icon on the today screen. I also did the soft rest. Checked out the wifi link and have afew moe questions....

1. I do not see a option to enable a DHCP thing when I tap the properties option. We set it to "use server-assighned IP address". The only other option is "use specific IP address". Is there something we should be doing different here?

2. I set all connection options to "work" settings. Is this correct?

3. Will these settings enable use to go to hot spots & connect to what is available?

Thanks again for the help :)

DHCP is the server protocol that assigns IPs, so this was right.

That's what I usually suggest. It seems to work most consistently although some people swear they have to use "The Internet."

They should. Most hot spots need to provide the IPs to function properly. It can be a problem for peope that use a static IP at home because the settings need to be changed for connections elsewhere.
