activesync fails to recognize partnership and more questions from a beginner

Ok well i'm not sure if the search part of the site is down but i might not know how to use it right so sorry if this has been anwsered before. Everytime i turn my
Axim X5 Advanced off and then when i turn it on again and try to sync it fails to recognize the partnership that i had created before thus making me create a new name for the partnership. It is running Pocket PC 2002 AO5 i believe. The activesync i am using is 3.5. Should i upgrade to the newest version because i know they are up to atlest 4.0?

Also what are the essential freeware apps that i should get, i would like to get pocket breeze after all the wonderful reviews and the screenshots i've seen but seeing as my money was spent on the axim itself i am almost broke and with me being in high school i have a limited income but hopefully i will work this weekend and get some money for pocket breeze.

Hi. I would check which version of Pocket PC you are running and then look on the Microsoft website to see if it is compatible with the different versions of active synch.

Are you syching with more than one computer? Doing so without a piece of software can cause this problem.
Also, are you completing a synch before you power off or is it timing out in the middle?

Thanks for the response. Everytime I synch it says i need tot upgrade the actviesync on my computer so i guess that means it isn't really compatible, although it still completes the synch.

No I havn't been synching with more than one computer. Also any response to my other questions. What do you use on your axim, and what do you use it for?

As far as freeware goes the best source for that is "my PDA" on some of the sites veterans. Scroll through one of the longer threads like "Don't bump this thread" and click on "my PDA" on someone who has lots of posts and you'll find plenty of freeware.

Rsaturn9 has a great "my PDA" he has links for all the apps he has on his Ax.
