Axim Inbox syncs, but doesn't display items on opening Inbox all of a sudden

I have a dell Axim x5 and have been using active sync 3.6 for years with no problem syncing with my PC at work (Microsoft outlook etc.). A few months ago, I noticed that all of a sudden the "inbox" on my Axim is no longer displaying the emails that are in my inbox on my pc. My Axim shows all the folders and subfolders, and the Today screen will still show an icon when there is mail received and un-opened, and even when I sysnc it, active sync will show that it is "updating" the actual number of emails that are in my Inbox, but when I open my inbox on the axim, it says there are 0 items. I tried un-checking the inbox, sync'ing and then re-sync'ing with the box re-check and still nothing.

Did you go into the setup window in active synch where you can choose what is updated and which folders inside your inbox are to by synched?

Yup....the Inbox is actually defaulted to sync. Like I said, the Axim "knows" that there is unopened mail, it just doesn't register the actually emails in the inbox application. Weird.
