Unfortunately, I don't think there is a way to do this. Same thing happens to me. I just check it when taking it out of my pocket to be sure it's off. This is one of the main reasons I'd like to find a nice, aluminum case for it...

I think if you do the following, your problem will be solved:
Start->Settings->System->Power->Control
Take the ckeckmark out of the box labeled "Turn on device if a program button is pressed"
Hope this helps!

I was about to say the same thing, but it didn't involve -> ;)
I think you meant "->"

Do a search for Bulldogs "simple cover", which is thin and covers the face of the AX. I start WMP slip on the cover and none of the buttons can be activated also protects the screen if you should mess up and have car keys in your pocket with the AX. It's not a button lock but it works for me.

If you're using the Windows Media Player, try this. When in the app, go to Tools -> Settings -> Buttons
Assign one button (the action button is a good one for this) to "screen toggle" which will turn the screen off. This will keep it from responding to random taps on the screen. Make sure to check the "unmap buttons during backgroud play" box.
Assign the rest of the buttons to "full screen toggle" which does nothing when the screen is off (which basically makes them null.)
The only thing you have to worry about with this config is whether you depress the volume button (action button) on accident, which isn't all that likely. Please note that when you set these buttons to this config, they'll only apply when media player is the active running aplication. It won't affect their funtionality when using other apps.

Quick correction... "Full screen toggle" changes the video size between window mode and full screen mode.
"Screen toggle" turns off, and thus nullifies, the screen. Hokay.

You're missing the whole point here:crooked:.
What he's looking to do is make both the screen and the buttons not respond when pressed.
When the screen is off, pressing another button assigned to full screen toggle does absolutely nothing. That button has functionally been locked. Assign one difficult to press button as the screen toggle, then all the rest to a null (full screen toggle)status.
Try it, you'll see what I mean. You may even learn a trick or two.;)

There's a new application that will do what you're looking for, and also includes a Shutdown & Soft reset function, even plays the Windows shutdown music:)
Look for toosten Turn-off: http://www.handango.com/PlatformProd...Search=toosten
It's $6.00, but will blank the screen so only the power button will turn it back on, the power light will blink to let you know that the Axim (or other pda) is still on and running. I bought it and it works as advertised.
Look for a discount code to get it cheaper.
