it sure works well, a few mouse clicks and it backs your existing rom up and install the new A05 WM 2003 upgrade. took about 1/2 hour.
You are right- 2003 ROMs are like abandonware, and the only people who are against using them seem to be forum admins. This is indeed like downloading a movie. A movie made in the 50s that the studios no longer make money off of. If Microsoft or Dell still cared, they would offer them as downloads or CD's. And when is the last time you guys ever saw an admin say, "hey, I dont think this is Legal, but let me use my uber powers to get an answer directly from Dell and get back to you guys!" Instead its "I am an admin, and you must trust that I dont make up crap or interperet things without any thought" on many of these issues...

Boy this issue been going around for over a year now. It used to be just a simple 3.00 dollar Ebay installation (six months ago). Maybe they don't have them anymore but I'd keep checking there.

Just want to read ebooks on my Axim 5
I've been trying for months to get a book I purchased downloaded onto my Axim 5. It appears my PDA will not allow me to delete MS Reader version in ROM or upgrade to newer version. I've followed all the instructions, but to no avail. Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated. It might me noted this is my first ebook purchase.

are you shure that X5 is still totally usable with PPC2002 ?????my new computer use vista and at that moment I lost all possibilities to synchronise. How can I solve my problem. I can't buy an upgrade that don't exist more. I don't want to buy an other PDA. May I downgrade my new computer with XP ? We are able to go in the space but unable to sell an upgrade? Im shure my next pda will not be a Dell. certainly not

Sorry but I think you need WM2003 or higher to sync with Vista. Try eBay, as others have done, for the 2k3 upgrade.

wm 2003
I have the wm 2003 upgrade disc around my house somewhere. I bought it from dell thinking I would upgade. found that some of my favorite software, such as pocket gnuboy only works on ppc 2002. but recently, I have found that I am unable to do ANYTHING with my axim!! for some reason, when I plug it in, active sync will not connect anymore. I guess this is some kind of ploy by microsoft to completely end ppc 2002. also, I have vista on my main pc and the windows mobile device manager does not work with ppc 2002. only ppc 2003. so I am kind of stuck. since I can't run active sync, I can't run my ROM update utility. because vista only supports ppc 2003 i recommend you get it and get it fast. because ppc 2002 cannot be used with windows vista!! or xp for that matter!
