Outlook does not have appointment catagories, so you only have this feature in AF (Agenda Fusion). It's not so big a deal for me, as the PC has a bigger display for appointments.
I use AF all the time. In fact, I had Pocket Informant and switched. As RickFord said, it's all in what you like. You should really try both before spending your hard-earned.
I also agree with NMkiD, you should remove, then re-install both programs -- maybe in the other order. If nothing else, this would let you tell us the exact message AF is giving you. The trial version is the same as the real deal. You can also contact AF and see what they say. I have found them very responsive.
Here are a couple of other programs that let you see the battery. Gigabar takes over the top bar of your screen. It can do almost anything, include a real-time display of battery and memory. It's free, but a lot of people don't like it because it's pretty techy & takes a little time to figure out.
Another possibility is Dashboard (Snoopsoft.com). It's a Today screen replacement that includes several other features, including a battery display.
