I usually use the keyboard when inputting text. I've noticed that my Ax has started to learn some of the commonly typed words that are not found in a dictionary (e.g., my last name, etc.) and will include these words when offering choices for word completion. My concern is that even passwords will be "learned" and offered as a choice too. Has this happened to anyone? I know that word completion can be turned off, but it would be a pain to have to do so everytime I'm prompted to enter a password.

Thanks,

I've noticed that if the password is not all letters, the 'word learning' function will not learn the whole password. For example, if you used gig4i, it might complete the 'gig,' but not the whole phrase. Beyond this work around, I'm not sure how you can keep it from learning specific 'words.' A soft reset clears the learning but that would be a pain to do every time you were going to leave the Ax out of your site.

Hi Gigi.....personally (for my own self, anyway) I didn't like the word completion feature so I turned it off.
But, ikehiker's idea is great if word completion is something you like using....I would have never thought of using a number :)
yep... I actually have a special formula/algorithm I use, just inside my own head, that I apply to all my passwords... it is simple, but I won't say it... but basically entering a simple word password, especially if it can be found in a dictionary, means it could be cracked via bruteforcing (setting up a script to guess the password a bunch of times, or something like that)... however, if oyu do that on top of something else, there's no way in a million years you'll get cracked... for example:
password (setting this as a password to anything important would be stupid... it woudl be first on the list according to my method above...)
vs
1pAssword
2 tiny changes, making this now nearly impossible to guess, so if you were to, say, capitalize the second letter, and add a "1" before every password you have... then they'll all be more secure
But, when you use a strong alphanumeric password, your password has to contain a combination of uppercase and lowercase letters, numerals or punctuation.
The trick I learned a few years ago was to use the first letters of phrases. For example: "This is my password for Aximsite" would equal "Timp4A." Unfortunately, I started having so many different passwords, I had to give up on that. I couldn't even remember that many different phrases.
In other words, no, that is NOT my password for Aximsite and not even close ;)

Justy on a general note its a good idea to change your passwords once and a while anyway.

Yep. Best to change every couple months (or even more often) to keep everything the most secure. And DO NOT use the same passwords for every one of your accounts everywhere. By doing so, if someone got your password to say eBay, they would then have access to everything else since you used the same password on it all. Also, like has already been mentioned, use something that is meaningful to you, but is kinda jumbled up to others. For example: instead of Aximsite....use Ax1mS1t3 or soemthing like that. Always best to mix cases, as well as alpha/numeric combos.

Also, keep in mind that your email password should be THE most secure, if that falls, then they can go to jkust about every place you register, and say "request password".
