hey all, when ever a new product gets a surprise burst of popularity and sales, there will always be delays and shortage of inventory. There has NEVER been a company in my 15 years in this industry that has kept up with inventory demands when the product sells this well.

Don't knock the company or the product because your shipment is going to be delayed, it ain't gonna make your Dell come any faster :).

Don't forget, sometimes delayed shipments can also mean later revision units which might have some of the bugs worked out from earlier versions. There is an advantage.

I was one of the fortunate ones that got my Axim early. I love the Axim guys/gals, it's worth the wait. Hey, if you're that impatient, you can also get the Ipaqs for twice the price, i'm sure they have inventory :P.

Good luck all!

I agree. These things take time. Just think of any christmas time when trying to get a Tickle Me Elmo, Cabbage Patch Doll or any high demand order. It would be a huge mistake on Dells part to stock the Axims banking on high demand. If anything - you should be angry with your self for not ordering it sooner! I can understand the frustration - after I ordered mine - I was more anxious waiting for it than anything else I can remember in a long time.

LOL I think I got my Axim quicker than I am going to get the thumbpad. But I don't mind as they do not charge my card until it ships.

I know what you mean about being so anxious waiting for the Ax. The last time I was this antsy waiting for something it was my Dell Dimension 8200 desktop system. That was last January and it only took 3 weeks, but it felt like 3 years!! Of course, I hadn't bought a new pc in 4 years, so I was looking forward to retiring the old (now, don't laugh) PackBell P2 266mhz.

So do what all of us did....keep checking order status, UPS tracking #, and hound the heck out of the people at UPS!!!

Hope you get it soon.

I went on a ski vacation in Whistler while "in waiting" for my Axim. It was delivered while I was away and I wasn't chomping at the bit because I was shooshing down the slopes. My husband charged it up for me and it was ready and waiting when I returned home. Can't beat that! B)

Now play nice Sandi,

I am still stuck on a dell inspiron 3200 PII 233 MHZ laptop with a screen that burnt out on me plugged into a Dell 15" monitor (as my Graduate Student budget doesn't allow me to replace yet)

Kind of ironic that my new Ax. (400 MHZ) is faster than my laptop (chained to my desk now) with basically more RAM. (well, almost)

But the job search is on so hopefully I will be getting a new Dell in a few months (anyone know a company in need of a PhD Chemical Engineer? (pre-equipted with his own Ax.))

enjoy your toys

hey if you look around you can get a GOOD dell for around 400 bucks or less, of course without the monitor which if u have a frys electronics near you u can always pick up a 17 inch monitor for ALWAYS far less then 100 bucks, 19 inch monitors around 150, and most of them with FLAT CRT i always see them in the paper.

My brother got a REALLY good Dell system off of ebay for $550. He just happened upon a Buy it Now auction right when it was placed.

OK OK OK, I am busted,

Truth be told, I recently purchased a Dell 2300 refurbished from Dell for $300. That one is at home, only able to convince the wife to get that cause she could get email off it. I have the Inspiron laptop chained to my work desk

Already had a 17" monitor, so I am getting through to the end of grad school.........

Once I get that real job, then we will be talking, Which Dell rep wants a real good commission....? I will be ready to spend some money
