Check this general overclocking utility out. I wonder if it works on an Axim? Someone want to try? I don't have mine yet -- still waiting for it.

Just curious...

I'm a Palm user making the switch to Pocket PC. I've used overclocking software on my Palm and definitely improved the benchmark test, but, there really wasn't any discernable improvement in speed. "Instant on", was still "instant on". I'd touch an app and it would open right away.

I've had much the same response when playing with various Pocket PC's. 200, 300 or 400 MHz processors not-withstanding, "instant on" is, again, "instant on".

So... why overclock? And, why is processor speed such an issue when everything opens and runs right away? Unless, it's about games (which I pretty much never play), is there any real value to overclocking or to having a faster processor in a unit that fires up and runs right away anyhow?

Thanks!

Woah Mini-me,

I didn't mean to scare anyone. I was simply curious if anyone tried it. I use my hotmail account because my job doesn't encourage too much non-related email in my inbox.

If you look at other posts I've made, you'd see that I mean well.

:) Nothing personal Cronanfrog, my post came out the wrong way me thinks :)

I haven't really seen this thing tested on the Dell Axims so I'm a little paranoid in using it. I hear so many things bad about using OC utils so I usually sit back and let everyone do the testing :) before I attempt it on mine.

Whew. Anyway I totally agree with you. I am very cautious about trying the new utilities until there is a body of knowledge. But there will probably be a fricking library of info before I get my Axim from DEll. :(

I have never personally OC'ed my PPC's; but from other postings on other boards, users 'claim' that movie clips on the iPaq 19XX that had like 9fps went up to 15fps. For things like Quake and stuff, there are a few fps improvements too....they say.

Cheers.
