Well i bought the program from handago. It seems like a nice program. However, with my Axim x5 400mhz, it will not recognize the cpu (the program reats PXA250 plus some extra characters) those extra characters are what causes this. I have had an email conversation with the maker to confirm all of this. Anton says to wait until tomorrow for version 1.1 which will fix this bug. )=

well anyway, i tried the program found here: http://www.elevatedstudios.com/pocket , (it sets 100 200 and 300 mhz on other devices)

it successfully set it down to 100 mhz, and 200 mhz. so if you wanna save batteries, just get this free program.

however, DO NOT USE IT TO SET YOUR 400 MHZ CPU TO 300... it locked my ppc up, and then the screen faded out and it wouldnt turn on... looks like i'll have to get a new one from dell now

... just kidding... it did lock it up and it did ffade out, but i just had to remove all batteries, then put them all back in and it started up (however, all the ram was reset)

Why on earth would some of you want to overclock a PPC that doesn't have any optimized software anyway? Plus run the chance of voiding your warranty???? No offense, but I am not shelling out $400.00 bucks on something to take a chance on ruining it for a placebo effect boost?????

This might be of some value in a couple months, but the fact that it crashes your Pocket PC doesn't make me feel too secure. I guess I'll leave that up to the Beta testers... <_<

You do realize that 200MHz is what you set the Axim to when you select Power Save mode? With the good battery life of the Axim, I don't see the point in underclocking the processor to 100MHz.

Thanks for posting the results though.

first of all, the only one that crashed my ppc is the free one for the hp 1910... second of all.. im sure 100 mhz has better battery life than 200, and some people might want to have it at100 mhz with the screen off while listening to mp3s.... third of all, even though the os isnt optimized, the overclocking should hlep out in games/movies and other apps that dont run at the absolute fastest speed they can already.

think about the people who have overclocked the strong arms from 206 to 236 mhz... im doing it for the same reason they are.
