Question Please help! The answering modem has disconnected

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I posted this question a few weeks ago and unfortunately have had to replies and I'm really ready to blow my brains out.

Can anyone help?

Error message: The answering modem has disconnected.

After getting everthing working, (they were paired, etc.) I now keep getting this error after making connection: The answering modem has disconnected. I can't send/receive email because this happens

Can anyone advise on possible solutions?

Axim X5 - PPC 2003
Yes I got download patch from Dell for CF Card
Socket BT Compact Flash Card installed w/software/drivers, etc.

Dialing number: *99***1#
User name: ISPDA@CINGULARGPRS.COM
Password: CINGULAR1
Domain: blank
Extra dial-sting commands: I can't find the info but when it worked one time I think I had entered +CGDCONT=1,"IP","WAP.CINGULAR"

Wait for dial tone - unchecked
Wait for credit card - 0 seconds

TCP/I - Use server assigned

Don't know if it matters but I've tried baud rates 19200, and 57600, and 115200-- all recommended from different sources on this site and Socket user guide.

Also, don't know if relevant, but when I try to tap on Bluetooth under Connections, I get error "There is no bluetooth hardware installed on this device". yet when I tap on BT icon on bottom of Today screen, it obviously sees BT.

I've done soft reset several times and re-entered modem settings, etc.

Thanks in advance for any and all assitance !!

I have cingular and link it to my pda as well. Connecting has never been 100% reliable and I havent found the rhyme or reason to it. Maybe they've figure out that I'm tethering, which they don't like...

You can try changing ISPDA to ISP or WAP and see if it works... The last two weeks or so it's been impossible for me to connect and I'm on the 5 mb/month plan...

Thank you for the info. I have tried changing the ISPDA to ISP or WAP and nothing seems to work. I figured I had some of the other settings wrong. If I get this figured out I'll let you know.
Appreciate your making the time to answer.

I just got it to work, after talking to someone at Cingular who THIS TIME gave me the correct settings.

Here is what worked:

Dialing number: *99***1#
User name: ISP@CINGULARGPRS.COM NOTE: NOT WAP@CINGULAR.COM
Password: CINGULAR1
Domain: blank
Extra dial-sting commands: +CGDCONT=1, "IP", "ISP.CINGULAR"

Wait for dial tone - unchecked
Wait for credit card - 0 seconds

TCP/I - Use server assigned

Below are other dial-string modem commands I had been given by Cingular and the guy I spoke w/today said they also work, but I've never been able to get them to work.
AT+CGDCONT=1, "IP", "proxy"
AT+CGDCONT=3, "IP", "proxy"
AT+CFUN=1; +CGDCONT=1, "IP", "proxy"

Hope this helps someone !
