Axim Equivalent X86 power

After testing several different utilities and games, along with their PC counterparts I am guessing that the Axim 300 is = to a 486DX33.

The AXIM is definately faster than a 486DX33 in some areas but in terms of raw processing power it's a 486.

What can/did a 486 do?
Barely play an MP3 (axim does it just fine)
Play Doom at an acceptable framerate
Play Tomb Raider at an acceptable framerate
Play NES/Gameboy emulators at full speed
Play SNES/Genesis emulators at a crawl
Play MPEG videos with some dropped frames

If you compare the games and applications for PocketPC 2002 to what we had before the Pentiums came out you can probably see what I mean.

This doesn't mean the Axim is slow. I used to play Quake on my 486 DX2/66 and it was plenty fast for Duke Nukem.

But it's 3d power was limited and it couldn't play any highly compressed video like DVD/MPEG2 or most DIVX.
