Internet explorer loads AvantGO pages extremely slow!

I have been using avantgo on my palm for some time, and switched to PPC some weeks ago. I of course continued to use avantgo, but it is not so cool anymore. It is SO SLOW!

Loading the frontpage with all my channels takes 6 seconds, compared to ONE second on my palm.

Why is Internet Explorer this slow?
I thought a Dell X5 basic was supposed to run a little faster than a palm?

There is no PPC version of Opera available, right?

How many channels are talking here?

Mine seems to work about as fast as the Palm version. Have you tried a soft reset?

I have 14 channels. Have soft reset it.

But it seems like it is the browser which is slow, because i can see it renders the page part for part - first "My channels" then the name on all channels, than the pictures, and about 1 more second waiting before the loading icon disappears.

I have renderd some other pages too, and i am absolutely NOT impressed of the speed. IE is in general SLOW.

I wish I had Opera... :(

You'll never have Opera. They have stated on their website that they will never release a browser for the Pocket PC.

I'm not a big fan of Avantgo. I have always thought it ran slow even on my m505.

Have you tried this program?

There is a web clipping feature that seems to work much better than avantgo.

Nah, it didn't look very good.

Can I download "avantgo pages" using it? If i have to add things manually the point is gone... :(

If you can get the channel links, you can add them to your "Mobile Favourites". It renders much more quickly in PIE and allows you to set the link depth and overall file size, whereas Avantgo restricts link depth on most channels and you're only allowed 2MB on their free package.

Then you can schedule the Mobile Favourites to update automatically at some regular time when your desktop is usually up & running.

Chris...

And if you can't use Avantgo because its slow where does that leave you?

The best solution is audible.com IMO...
