I recently started having the same issue. I probably replaced my battery when I didn't need to. It went from 100% to 0% in 1 day. I tried soft reboot and also tried removing and reinstalling the battery. Still 0%. I put it on the cradle and now it shows 100%. Got a feeling this is related to my rechargeable battery. Guess it's time to replace it.

rta53 - your info says you have an X51v. The battery being discussed in this thread is the backup battery on the X5 which is not rechargable but is user replacable. The backup on the X51v is the opposite (can be charged, cannot be replaced).

Ah, OK. I just didn't want someone thinking they could get the backup battery out of their X51 (I'm sure it's technically possible but I suspect a large number of us would end up trashing the PPC if we tried).

Worried x51v backup battery

Hi all, couple of weeks ago my axim has dead. Today I have checked the internal backup battery and I saw it was almost dead (0.6v). I have found that battery at pdasmart website at aximpartscenterx51 but I am not able to find it in Spain. You can see it is a Panasonic XXXX4. Could you please help me telling me if this is a 1.5v or 3v battery?? Is it rechargable or not.
I must tell that I have replace it with a 1.5v non-rechargable battery and it exploded in 5 minutes..... Now my doubt is if the problem was the voltage or the capability of been charged.
With the main baterry installed I found 2.6v meassuring directly to the board.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Go look on the X5 forum. You will find that this is a known, common problem with the X5. It is caused by a software glitch in the device. If your back up battery falls even 0.1 volt below 100% the software will report it as low. Your backup battery is fine. Sometimes all it takes is opening the dorr and moving the battery around (or take it out, polish it on your shirt, and put it back). I have gone as long as a year on the same bcak up this way. [B]HOWEVER[B], keep a close watch on your main battery level.

There is nothing you can do about this. I have seen posts where some have put two batteries in to prevent this, but I consider this as VERY dangerous. You will be supplying the electronics with almost twice the voltage they are designed for.

Oops. Just realized I already said all of this.

The backup battery for the X5 is a CR2032 which is 3 volt non-rechargeable lithium battery. They are very common and should be widely available at low cost. 1-2 USD.

maker of battery

Over the past few years, this problem often crops up.

Somewhere on the site, someone pointed out that the manufacturer of the battery is the key. I'll look for it when I'm not mobile.

The best battery to use is the Duracell 2032.
