but if i take out the back up batt and put it back in it back to 100% most fo the time ... i change the batt 2 times all ready and i dont kow what i can do it get it fixed.. it happends about 40% of the time i use it ... i geting sick of it and i cant sell the 5X because of it .... anyone had that problem or know how to fix it ???
The backup battery on the X5 is a removeable watch-type battery. It cannot be charged. You can get them replaced at Radio Shack, your nearest drugstore, etc.
I have the same problem every now and then. When it was happening all the time, my contact for the side of the battery wasn't making good connection. I tried bending it, but it eventually broke off at the solder join. After disassembly and resoldering, it worked great. Now I still get it sometimes, but I think it's software related. I'm slowly narrowing it down and I suspect a game I downloaded a long time ago.
Not much help, but that's my story.

Hm, I just realized brockly25 posted this in the X5 forums but in his/her sig, it says he/she has an X51v. So if that's the case, there is no removeable backup battery and if your battery is low, it must be recharged.
If it is an X5, I have a reported low back up battery often.
If I want to know the status of the backup battery, I do a soft reset. It usually reports good after that.
this is for my X5 i do have a new x51v but talking to my x5
ok the backup batt said it at 0% but if i take it out and put it back in itwill be back at 100% the batt is not dead it the x5 axim ... i haveing a problem SOMETIMES not all the time ... its kinda fun i have to soft reset and 80% of the time it work but some times i have to take the batt out and put it back in ... i see some of you have the same problem ... your info is some much appericate...
Yes.
I recall discussions about this when I first got my Axim X5 (three years ago or so) and I just got into the habit of ignoring the "low back up battery warning".
I periodically check it after a soft reset, and replace it about every 8 to 10 months.
I believe that the "Low Backup Battery" problem is not uncommon with the X5 series. I don't know whether it's the battery contacts, loose housing for the battery, or something internal. As long as you know the backup is brand new and aren't losing any data, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just set a reminder every so often about replacing the battery. (CR2032, I believe)
CR2032 is correct.
The backup battery problem can be annoying, but then that's all it is...a backup battery. As long as you have a charge on the main battery you're not gonna lose any information. A periodic check, like uzziah0 said, should be O.K.

This subject comes up repeatedly. If you search the archives you find several threads. If I remember correctly it is caused by a software glitch that reports a low battery any time it falls below 3 Volts (the nominal rating of the battery). My X5 400 also does it. I have tried bending the contacts, placing a folded piece of paper under the bottom contact, etc. Nothing seems to help. I even remember one guy saying he solved the problem by stacking two batteris there. I think this would b dangerous to your Axim. I finally decided on the 'ignore and check periodically' pocedure. It has worked so far, and I have had a couple of times when the main battery ran down sitting on a dresser (forgot to plug it in). I haven't lost any data yet. Of course, I regularly back up everything.

If I understand correctly, what you are saying is that you are getting poor readings on the status of your backup battery. I had the same problem. It seems that the main battery on my Axim X5 is going bad. I tried another main battery and everything seems to be okay now. I would suggest looking on eBay for a new main battery. Then replace the backup battery and see if that fixes the issue.
