Memory Management Question

I have had my 300MHz axim a couple of weeks now and am starting to get familiar with its limitations. I have installed a number of programs to enhance its function (TDLaunch, WisBar, Tasks+, Calendar+, etc...) and a couple for other reasons (AIM, MSN, WinamPAQ, etc...

I am beginning to worry about using all the memory up on installed applications. I was running just explorer and AIM today and got a message that memory resources were low and it got me worried that I am already sttretching my PDA's capabilities too far.

Is there something I can do to change this or is it just the life of a 300MHz owner?

FYI - some screenies:

You can install programs onto a memory card (CF or sd) rather than in Main Memory. Most programs work fine when set up this way. Also, you said you have WisBar. Are you using it to actually close programs? Otherwise, programs could still be running in RAM in the background..

Yes - I am using WisBar to keep programs closed.

What kind programs are ok for install in the SD card? Not just from the feasible perspective, but the smart thing to do perspective...

I would guess installing WinamPAQ on the SD card would be good as that is where the MP3s are...

Almost all programs can be installed safely to a Storage Card. The only programs that might have trouble (and should probably be installed to Main Memory) are programs with Today screen plug-ins, or that monitor or alter system functions (i.e.: battery monitors, registry editors, etc.). Most everything else should be okay to install on a storage card.

mwilding.....

just to let you know that Task+ has a well known memory leak.
you basically have to soft reset your axim and your memory will be back again.

Some programs as noted above have Memory leaks in their programs which eats up all your memory a soft reset clears it up. You may want to check if there is a fix availble.
