When I twist it, it's fine...

Hello,

About six months ago, when I first started having this problem, I read a thread somewhere about the X5 loosing color or turning white unless the user twisted the case. The thread mentioned a repair place in California that was known for fixing these things.

I called the repair place and they knew exactly what I was talking about and said something about soldering a connection to the motherboard. They were also going to only charge me $40.

I recently talked to the folks at PPCTech and they told me they had not heard of this particular problem, but would look at it for $45 and may be able to fix it for that price (maybe).

As I am neither a gambler nor rich, so can someone tell me how to fix this problem or of a place that specializes in these repairs. There isn't a screw in the world I am afraid of turning, but when it comes to welding, I would rather leave that to the pros.

Thanks for any help in advance...

Maybe you don't need to solder, so if you would like to try to fix your x5 then have a look here:

Good luck ....

Thanks,

I have read many threads on this site and always found it usefiul.

Is it just one of the ribbons that comes loose and causes this problem?

Well - if your x5 is sensitive to twisting then there is a bad connection to be fixed -
either by soldering or just plain mechanical, like a cable socket contact ...
Just be very careful if/when you inspect the inside.

Edit: You will lose all programs so don't forget to make a full backup ...
