Those with working 2GB SD Cards: Does It Ever Stop Working

So there seems to be no consensus on what 2GB (SD) cards work reliably on an X5.

Question1:
To help people considering a purchase, can those of you who have ever had a 2 GB card working properly comment on whether it has ever stopped working for you, or worked intermittently (and name what card and what PPC model/rom/etc. you are running).

Obviously if the card I buy doesn't work from Day 1 I can return it. However I am worried about it working intermittently after the store's return period.

Question2:
Perhaps a simpler question: If I have no plans on using wifi, bluetooth, or CF GPS, just the basic PPC... is there any reason why not to just get a CF card? ie. speed/reliability differences in the X5?

A new (to me) X5 is currently in the mail and I'm looking forward to getting started with my first PDA. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

SD cards are very durable and should last a while. Longer than the axim (considering its x5 already about 4yrs old).

Since the x5 is so old it may not work with high capacity cards. Get ax5 user to commet on brands and sizes, b/c i have a newer axim.

Thanks Spunker. To clarify, I'm not worried about the long-term reliability of the card, in so much as I am worried that some of the guys who have claimed to have gotten a 2GB+ SD card working in their X5 may have only got it working on an "on-and-off" basis (ie. when they first bought the card). I am curious as to if, 2,3,6 months down the road, they have remained as successful in reading the whole card in their Axim.

Ultimately if it doesn't work I am willing to accept that. A worthwhile trade-off I think for my use given that I paid about 20% of what a new entry level Axim costs.

Thanks again.

I believe if it works once it will not stop working. I would go to a local store and get the card there to try. I have tried Sandisk Ultra II, PQI and PNY all 2gb and none would read/write over 1gb in my X5 advanced.

if you are not going to use any cf peripherals then I would go with the biggest cf card you can afford there are no known issues with the x5's cf slot and any size card you get will work jmho
