Where did you get it?
Did this PDA come from Dell? If so, it does not meet Dell's refurbishment requirements, and can be returned for another one.
If it came from a third party company...well...good luck.

a long long time ago, in a planet far far away..........
actually about 8 years ago I worked at a car dealership. In regards to removing sticky stuff... We used to use 3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner. This stuff could remove anything. we used it to remove decals from windows, off of car body panels, bumpers, etc. We also used it to remove sticky velcro or the double sided foam crap they use with those car compasses and radar detectors. It also removed sticly stuyff stuck to carpet and car seats. It removed oil stains on seats and carpet as well. It never damaged the plastic on the inside of the car or leave stains, but it did have a horrible gas or fuel like smell. When I left the dealership I took like 2 bottles of the stuff. It worked great for the removing sticky residue left from duct tape, double sided sticky pads, and other sticky adhesives.
you may want to try to look for this stuff or maybe some bug and tar remover from an auto parts store. I would not try to use a spray on type, try to use an actual liquid solvent, something you could apply with....say a q-tip.

lighter fuel
lighter fuel should dissolve the adhesive. a bottle usually costs less than 2 bucks.
good luck

Tossing it into a microwave oven for approx. 30 minutes will dissolve this adhesive patch. Unfortunately, it will fry the Ax....I'd return it and DEMAND a new one!

that is good stuff, I bought bottle a couple years ago at walmart, this thing works wonders. if i remember it was under $5 so cheap too :)
But I think you should try to ask for a new one. Or sell it on ebay and buy yourself a new one. you'll probably find some buyer on ebay that won't care.

The 3M adhesive cleaner is a miracle product that actually works extremely well. Do not use it in a poorly ventilated space. The fumes will get you.
