Would appreciate some help to set up the Axim for more than 2 partnerships.

I would like to be able to ActiveSync to 4 computers.

Thanks,

From what I have read you can't sync mail with more than one machine, but if anyone has a way to do I'm intrested.

I saw a post about a week ago on one of the forums showing 2 websites that have a program to allow more than 2 partnerships. Sorry I can't remember where but it can be done but not with activesync as it is.
Maybe someone else will have the info or you can try some searches.

ActiveSynch is limited to two partnerships. This was a Microsoft decision from "way back". I love to bash Microsoft, but I think they have a point. When you go to synch, you always have the possibility that the same thing was updated on more than one computer. So the question becomes, which is the newest -- which do you want to save. This is pretty managable with 3 devices (PPC plus two computers). But it starts getting confusing with more.

I had this problem because more than one person in my family has a CE device. With both of us synching to the same contacts, etc, we occasionally lose some information. Sometimes ActiveSynch detects and warns us. Sometimes it doesn't. :(

You can manually create additional partnerships by adding them to the registry on the Axim. After you have created the first two normally with ActiveSync, use a registry editing program to go to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\Partners\

You will see entries for "P1" and "P2". These are the existing partnerships. Simply create another key called "P3" and add the necessary values for "PId" and "PName", following the similar syntax as the other two. I do not know the limit you can have, but I have tested 4 and it works. Obviously ActiveSync has to be installed on the other PC's as well.

TSB8C,

Thanks for the information.

I was able to edit the registry as you suggested and added P3 and P4 and added names into the PName key but I am not sure what to enter into the PId as Value Data.

Would greatly appreciate a little extra help with this one.

Thanks!

The PId values can be anything as long as they are unique. I would just make them sequential. In other words, whatever value was assigned to your first two partnerships, just add one more for the P3 value and then add one more to that for the P4 value.
