My problem. Advice appreciated...

Here is my problem. I ordered my Ax from dell on 5/20. Love it, but i always need to have the latest updates (its a sickness, i know).

Now with PPC 2003 coming out on 6/23, i dont know if i should return the Ax (bad Dpad, yknow;) ) and get a new one with the new OS. Since the new OS comes out more than 30 days after i purchased, i wont even be eligible if they do free upgrades for the last 30 months.

With no info from Dell and concern about cust support, I need to make a decision. Any advice out there???

My guess is that you won't get a PPC2003 unit back... I bet PPC2003 will be available as a ROM-upgrade, possibly at a small fee, but will not be delivered as standard OS until new modells are launched!

This is at least how Compaq did it with the h3600 series when PPC2002 came out.

i think topdog is right. I dont think returning it will do the trick. Just save the work of returning and pay the fee to upgrade.
