Can't synchronize via ActiveSync

Has anyone had any problems synchronizing with their Axim? I bought my Axim relatively recently and don't often synchronize. I've successfully synchronized with my work laptop once, but the last few times I tried, I haven't had any luck.
I've got a Dell Latitude Laptop running XP and a USB cable for connection to my Axim. When I connect the PDA to my laptop, XP recognizes the device and displays it in the Device Manager. However, ActiveSync doesn't realize that I've attached the Axim and, even if I manually start ActiveSync, it won't automatically detect the Axim. Furthermore, if I manually try to "Get Connected," ActiveSync will search all of my COM Ports and verify that I have a USB port available, but it won't ever connect to my PDA???!
I reinstalled ActiveSync and upgraded from v3.5 to v3.7, but still haven't had any luck.
Any thoughts?
