Skype Mic Problem

I just installed Skype on my old X5. Everything works except the mic. It only works when I press the record button.

Does anyone know how I can enable the mic without making a recording?

Hmm, strange. I use skype on mine and I don't have to enable the mic, it just worked fine for me

I'm really baffled by this. I just upgraded to WM2003 and installed Skype 2.2 low on my X5.

I tried Skype 2.1 but it wouldn't even run.

As I said in my first post I have to hold down the record button to be heard when I talk. I've been through all the settings but there isn't much for the microphone other than gain and quality and changing these settings doesn't affect the problem.

Any ideas on how I can get the built-in mic to work with Skype?

In case anyone else is experiencing the same problem I found the solution.

I went to Dell's Driver Download page and downloaded and installed all the updates for Axim X5 with PC2003.

I tested Skype and my mic now works as it should. I'm not sure which driver did the trick as I installed all of them before testing Skype but I would guess that it was the audio update that did the trick.

I loaded the latest and greatest Skype for Windows Mobile (Skype for Pocket PC version 2.2.0.38). The reason I am replying to Chester2's post is, I don't think he mentioned if his OS is WM 2002 or 2003. If you have 2002, download and install the one update (audio) for 2003. Worked for me.

I hope this doesn't sound all that confusing, because it is a pretty easy fix.

As a side note, I have seen posts on several different sites that say you Skype does NOT support WM 2002. Maybe they didn't, but they do now.

i just installed skype and am having the same problem. didn't try pressing the record button (i don't even know what button is that lol). but will check tomorrow and see what happens. will report later.
