Question about Syncing

Ok, well before I used to have only a Palm, and I'm about to get an X5 (or X3, not 100% sure)

Anyways, I've already ordered a 1gb sd card, and the person I'm getting the Axim from says that they don't have the sync cable. Now, with my Palm, for the most part, I always had to install the programs/games through the accompanied hotsync software. A few programs would install from the Palm OS itself.

What I want to know is, will I have to buy a cable, or can I just put programs onto the card, and install them directly on the Pocket PC through the Pocket PC?

I've never used a Pocket PC, that's why I would like to know.


Does anyone know if I can buy one at best buy for this particular model?

Oh, and I know it's going to have wi-fi on it (I know the X5 doesn't have wi-fi but I'm not sure if the person has a wi-fi card, or if he was just mistaken on the X5 part, and it's really an X3) so would it be possible to connect it to my Dell Inspiron 6000 through Wi-fi and sync it like that?

You can install .cab files from the card (you'll need a reader to put them there though) but for all other programs you'll need ActiveSync and a sync cable.

Cables are easy enough to source - try someone like Expansys

My notebook has a built-in SD card reader so that's no problem. But after reading you're reply, I figured I would need a cable sooner or later (always did with my Palms) so I went and ordered one really quick. Thanks for the help
