Exclamation Help! Need Pocket PC 2002 compatible software!

Hi everybody, I've just recently brought my X5 out of retirement and have been loading software back onto it. However I can't seem to find internet explorer for pocket pc 2002! I assume that its still a free download, does anybody have a link to it? Or perhaps a link to an alternative browser? Thanks for the help! Also, is there a media player still available for my x5? I can't find a darn thing on Microsofts website, they've changed everything since the last time I loaded up new software onto my Axim.

Internet Explorer is built into the ROM. Look for it in Start - Programs. If you want something with more features, try Opera or Netfront. For a better multimedia player, try TCPMP or CorePlayer.

M$ removed all that info because they want to force you to upgrade. Write to them and tell them what you think of that. Seriously.

IE and WindowsMedia are built into PPC2002 on the X5.

You can always upgrade your X5 to WM2003, but there aren't very many benefits to this. You can search the forums here for where to find the upgrade, search ebay for it, or search Google for "WM2003 upgrade".

There are alternate browsers you can get, but I don't think any of them are free.

There are alternate media players you can get that are free. I have used TCPMP (hope I spelled it right) to view videos but I think it plays audio files also.

1, welcome to AximSite :)

2, ALL PPC2k2 versions contain PIE, that of the x5, the x5 being a 32M ROM device, have all the bell s and whistles (TSC, WMP) of PPC2k2; it's just that you don't find it.

3, unfortunately, none of the better / newer alternative browsers (NetFront, Opera Mobile) can be installed on your device; the latets version of PIEPlus, ftxPBrowser and Spb Pocket Plus can. If you want to access to Opera Mobile / NetFront, upgrade to WM2003.

4, see the Browser Bible at http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=150925
