Sync X5 with Vista

I have an Axim X5 (WM v4.20.1081) with ActiveSync 3.80. It syncs perfectly with my XP computer at work, and my old XP PC at home. I want to replace my home PC sync with a sync to my new Vista Home Permium computer. I have installed Windows Mobile Device Center on the Vista computer, and deleted the sync partneship on my old home XP PC. When I plug the Axim into the cradle attached to the Vista computer, WMDC recognized the device name (displayed in left hand corner), and the Axim records a successful connect. However WMDC says "Changes to sychronization settings with Server ActiveSync could not be made at this time."

Anyone have any idea what this message means, and how to fix it?

Also, I have not found a way to delete the partnership in the Axim, just the PC, so there are still two partnerships in the Axim. How do you delete a partnership on the Axim? There doesn't appear to be any way to do it. Is there a way to do it manually, such as deleting a specific file?

I have read that Vista only works with Outlook 2003 or newer and that is why I am checking to see if my x5 will work with Vista. I have a feeling that it won't. Microsoft likes to make thing obsolete and we may be victims. I will stay with XP until I know more.

I got a message on mine that said Vista won't sync with anything older than windows mobile 2003. I got one on ebay for 1.99 and had to install it on win xp, (and it installed fine) so I'm hoping when I get to my Vista computer, it should work fine.

Vista will not allow Activesync to be installed, instead you must use its built-in WMDC software. Also, PPC2002 or older are NOT supported. @#$%&*

Windows Vista comes with a program called Sync Center this will only sync with pocket pc 2003. I have tried to download active sync but it just says that the program will not work with Vista. I hope Active Sync makes one for Vista...

I have an X5 and Outlook 2003. It works great. I must also say I really like the Windows Mobile Device Center. I know its different from ActiveSync, but I find it easy to use.
