Dell come on, bring out the next batch of handhelds....

Since the iPaq 3950 HP has released 5 PDA's into the market. Since November of 2002 Dell has released none. It's been a good 7-8 months but it's time for the next batch of PDA's from Dell to come out. I bet anything half decent from Dell would put the new and very attractive HP 2200 to shame. There is so much I love about the Dell Axim but waiting until 2004 by some estimates is too long for your anxious customers.

My 2 cents.

I heard Dell well introduce the new ones late fall. But it's strictly a rumor.

Most likely since they passed up the mobile 2003 release they'll target right before christmas and start advertising a month before that.

I don't want them releasing one every month! How often do most people plan to upgrade anyway?

Seriously...... how can you guys want to upgrade a 300 dollar pocket pc every 2 months? What do you do with your old ones?

I plan on sticking with the axim for at LEAST 18 months, and most likely until the thing just breaks on me. But then again im a college student without much money, i can see how upgrading more often would be worth it for people with money to spend.

Why are you talking about I'm not talking about releasing one every two months. Ignorance is bliss isn't it?

It's been almost 8 months and based on current projections it will be almost a year from the November 2002 product line release for the release of the next handheld product line. I just wish the wheels would spin a bit faster.

And im telling you i didnt actually mean 2 months, i was exagerating, i just mean updating so often. Even the 8 months axim has been out (assuming you got it like day 1) seems way too soon to update to me. Its not like the things obsolete, its still quite powerful... other then bus speeds or watever the 700 dollar ones have its the same.

I was just trying to make a point, dont take it all so literally =P

Slease has hit it right on the money. Dell is waiting for the Xmas season to release the new Axims. Last year, the Axims were introduced on November 18th and started shipping on the 25th. I have a really good feeling from really good sources, (hint hint) that Dell is shooting for the same effect this time around. Though this time, i hope that Dell can get more inventory in before releasing them to avoid the pure hell last year with ship times.
