DST patch and OS question

I'm trying to figure out if there are any daylight savings time patches for my Axim5. Which has led to trying to figure out which operating system I have. "About" says It's Microsoft Pocket PC Version 3.0.11171 (Build 11178). Is that Pocket PC 2003 or Windows Mobile 2003 or something else? Are those the same thing?

Are there any patches for whatever I have?

Your X5 is running PPC 2002.

See this thread for info on updating PPC2002 for the new Daylight Saving Time (2007). You may just need to change the time yourself on March 11th and then change it again when it would have happened in previous years (the first Sunday in April - April 1st). Then you would also need to make the change back to standard time on October 28 (fixing it again on November 4th).

Succesully updated DST for PocketPC v3.0.11171

I was able to download the patch form Microsoft, apply and successfully test. Even though the site did not include my OS.
Site stated:
Supported Operating Systems: Windows Mobile 2003 software for Pocket PCs; Windows Mobile 5.0 software for Pocket PC
Windows Mobile 2003 SW for Pocket PC.
Windows Moblie 5.0 SW for Pocket PC.
My version is:
Pocket PC Version 3.0.11171 (Build 11178).
Backup the files in case it does not work for you.
Go to the following link:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
Download the cab file to your PC.
Move the cab file to your synch folder and synch device.
Execute the cab file on your device.

If you want to test.
Change your time zone to any other than your own and then change it back.
Change your PDA date and time to 3/11/07 1:59 AM and save clock settings.
When the clock goes to change to 2am it should jump to 3 am instead.

For what it's worth, I was able to use the Microsoft patch listed for Windows Mobile 2003. Follow this link to download the CAB file.

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobi...ings_1033.mspx

Transfer the CAB file to your device (I used ActiveSync), and once there double click it from within the X5. It will install very quickly. Reset the device and resync. It should straighten out the appointments and clock.

Very likely that will be OK. M$ probably has not changed the registry keys used by the clock program until now so the CAB file (which is a registry hack) should work with any recent version of WM.

Icon14 Man, I LOVE this site....

:approve:
I haven't been here in awhile, but I ran into a problem when I noticed all my appointments were an hour off (yup, the new DST time). Well after screwing around a bit with the Axim clock and getting nowhere, I went right back to this site and got the link to update my Axim (which is still running Pocket PC vers 3.0.11171).
Thanks a million.

Icon14 Excellent Website!

This is an unbelievable site! I had no idea that a patch was also needed for my X5 so I spent several days trying to find out why the time was still off after updating my PC and Outlook... then I finally came back here. You all are wonderful and I just wish I had more to contribute but everything I've learned about my X5 re. TCPMP, movie compressing software, etc. I've learned from you all so I really appreciate your expertise and the willingness to share it. :nw:

Icon14 The one place you need to go.

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobi...tdownload.mspx

Go there, download the correct .cab file. Transfer the file to your Axim, by whatever means you choose, then run the file. It should self-extract in about 2 seconds, literally.

Worked without a hitch for me.
