Exclamation screwed my axim x5-won't turn on

Guys, I could really use some of your expertise here.
I got an axim x5 not new, and without instalation cd.
I got the mesasge that the backup battery is low, I bought a new one (cr 2025) but my axim drained it in one day. so I didn't bother to buy another one.
I wanted wireless on my axim so I bought the symbol card tried to install it, but I could not make it work.
I tried to uninstall the driver using add/remove programs on axim , but I think it froze because a little circle appeared on the middele of the screen showing that something is happening but after 20 minutes or so was still there, so I tried to shut down my axim but after restart the circel was still there showing that is still doing what was doing before (uninstalling I guess). so to stop this I took out the main, big battery. and it stopped. Checked the driever if is still there and it was there. (I forgot one thing the wireless card did blink- so it was receving power).
The point is that I could not connect to my d-link router. I don't know how. the card was recognized but I still don't know the step that I have to take to connect it
The other thing.
I kept trying to uninstall the driver for the symbol card and my axim froze. I don't know what did I press but a screen appeared saying, asking something like: are you sure you want to delete or remove all the data? I choose no, since I don't have the original axim x5 cd, and the pda restarted.
On restart I got the nice dell welcoming background and after that nothing. When I mean nothing, I mean a black screen and that is IT. I could see that the black screen was iluminated, that the axim was on but that is it, no matter what I pressed nothing happened, AND I could turn it off only by removing the main battery.
I DO NOT HAVE THE ORIGINAL CD FOR AXIM X5.
IS IT POSSIBLE THAT I ERASED THE WHOLE ROM AND THE AXIM IS USELESS?
I WANT T O BUY THE ORIGINAL INSTALATION CD (E-BAY) SHOULD I BUY IT?
WILL IT HELP ME TO REINSTALL THE OS ON THE AXIM?
WHAT CAN I FIND ON THAT INSTALATION CD?
DO YOU GUYS HAVE ANY IDEA?
DID ANYONE GET THAT QUESTION BEFORE (with the erasing/removing?)
And does anyone know the detailed steps to set up the wireless card properly.
Mine was recognized by the pda but I didn't know how to conect it to the router.

I wold really appreciate some help . thank you guys.

It may be that the brightness is set to the bottom (which has happened on my X5). If you look at the screen from the side in certain light, you might be able to see enough to navigate to the brightness setting, and raise it.

Also, the backup battery is a cr2032, and the drain to zero is probably a false reading. There are many posts here about that. Make sure the 3 prongs are clean and slightly raised and that the cover is on tightly.

If you already have Outlook installed on your PC, you do not need anything on the installation CD (Activesync can be downloaded from Microsoft).

If all else fails, I would try a hard reset which is done by pushing the stylus into the dot on the left side of the Axim (the dot is the 4th one up from the bottom) and pressing the power button down.

Calm...Cool...OHMMMMMM.
I think a hard reset is in order.
This will restore your Axim back to original condition, (with no third party programs at all). You will still have your operating system intact, but will lose all the data such as contacts and appointments. Then you can reload any programs that you have gotten since you got your Axim.
To hard reset; press the power button and the reset button at the same time and hold for about 3 seconds. ( the reset button is on the side of the device just below the toggle and record button but above the 3 indentions)
The backup battery problem may just be the old X5 glitch, try removing and reinstalling the button cell. (If the hard reset doesn't help it first)

Above all, don't get in a hurry while it's resetting and coming back on. Sometimes it takes a bunch of seconds for mine to kick back in.
If you don't have a backup program yet, I suggest getting one. I use sprite backup and think it's well worth the money.

Hope all this helps.
