tweak to dump "low batter warning?" - SOLVED

does anyone know of a tweak, program or registry change that will get rid of that annoying "backup battery is low" message whenever the X5 is powere on?

Im not worried about the backup battery, I fully back my X5 up to two different SD cards and two computers every week (at least) and keep it pretty well charged so I dont care if it goes belly up if the main battery dies, I just want that annoying message gone.

btw Ive put new batteries in it, cleaned the contacts and battery with alchohol, bent the contacts up and in, put paper in the compartment, all that. it goes between 60% and zip randomly. so Id rather just eliminate the message.

See my response to this thread from a few days ago. The thread starter in that case wanted an audible alert but the same thing applies in your case.

A word of caution though, this will also affect any battery warnings for your main battery which it sounds does not really matter to you if you keep a good backup.

pity I cant keep the other battery warnings but other than that -perfect - thanks! its so fast to do a full backup to SD I do backups anytime I do anything important to it so Ill live with the chance of killing the mains.

I sometimes wonder though, even though that backup battery reads 0% sometimes whether it would still hold the memory overnight anyway. next time it reads zero maybe Ill pull the main and find out :)

If the main battery goes dead, I don't think the backup battery would keep your Axim alive overnight. I am not exactly sure where this information is but I recall something like less than an hour.
I don't rely on the backup battery for anything other than a 4 second main battery swap.

uzziah0 - I think you're right. I wouldn't count on the backup battery to keep the device going for more than a few minutes myself.

thanks guys, thats good to know. not sure where I got the impression it would last overnight.. just seems it should so it it dies during the day you would have several hours (at least) to charge it.

I looked in the manual and it says nada about how long the backup battery lasts.

I installed a battery monitor so I can just check the main charge on the task bar.
