Locked Processor speed on Auto setting??

It appears that the 'auto' processor speed setting on my 300mhz Axim is not working correctly. It simply remains locked at 300.
A soft reset corrects the problem for a few minutes, but eventually the processor speed simply remains locked at 300.

Anyone else experience this? I don't know how long it's been doing this (I only discovered it because I was wanting to test my battery life), but I know it worked initially.

Note: the 'PowerSave' setting resets the speed to 200mhz correctly, but setting it back to Auto toggles the speed to 300mhz where it stays indefinitely.

Looking at the problem more closely...

After doing a soft reset, the Auto setting works fine UNTIL I power off and re-power on the unit. It then remains locked at 300mhz!!

defect?

I guess I could do a backup and try a hard reset...

Hard Reset seems to have corrected the problem.
