Problems with x5

Hi

I recently upgraded my pc, so rebuilt my hard drive, I've lost the original cd, but have found a copy of active sync 3.7 but i get a file copy error:

setup could not copy the file c:\documents and settings\rob brown\local settings\temp\ixp000.tmp\core/inf/wceusbsh.cat (copy error 1) REstart your desktop computer and run setup again

(I've tried a reboot and that doesnt work), any help would be appreciated

Rob

My advice (I use the x5 also) would be to download the latest active sync. I've never used 3.7 but 4.5 works real well on the axim x5

ActiveSync 3.8 is the latest version that was recommended for the X5. You can't find it on the Microsoft site but you can find a download here --> http://www.hpcfactor.com/support/syncsoft/activesync/

Thanks for the advice

Thanks for the advice will try to upgrade to 3.8 and see how it goes

However I have bought an x51 from the states so have 2 questions:

Due to the different plug/voltage, how do i go about running it off uk mains

Can I back-up my X5 so I can restore to the new x51 ?

Thanks

Rob

Im almost positive a full backup from the X5 -> X51 wont work, but a PIM backup may. someone else here will probably know for sure.

as for voltages, my X5 power supply states on it that the input voltage can be anything from 100-240 volts so all you would need is a plug adapters, not a voltage converter. check on your power supply, it may tell you.

The X5 and X51 power supplies are compatible so you can just use your current X5 adapter with the X51. If you want to use the one that comes with the X51 (assuming it's the original Dell adapter), you really just need the cord from the adapter cube to the wall (or a plug adapter as CrispyFried said).

Certainly the Dell backup and ActiveSync backup will not work between the X5 and X51. A third party backup might but you'd be much better off letting the first sync add in the PIM data and installing any programs.
