Drop Scare
So, yesterday, about 15 minutes before I was planning on leaving work, I was listening to a podcast on my Axim, when I rolled my chair over, and pulled my Axim off the desk onto the floor.
I've done this before, and have worried about cracking the screen, but never had a problem.
I have my X5 in a very nice Piel Frama case, that looks good and does a great job.
So, this fall was a bit different. It was still playing my podcast, but the ear plug came out.
I picked it up, and cehcked it out. All the icons on the desktop (iLauncher) were generic icons. All my apps on installed on my SD card, so I popped that out, looked it and the slot over, all looked good.
I reinserted it, and tried a few soft resets, to no avail.
I turned it off, and waited until I got home.
At home, it was still showing the problem. So, it was either the card or the slot.
I put the card in my PC, and it was fine.
So, I tinkered with the Axim, several soft resets, and powering down and tapping lighty to dislodge anything loosened in the slot.
Nothing happened, until it finally, just started working!!!!
But, when I put the X5 in the dock, it appeared to shutdown!
I put it in and out a few times. Everytime I put it in the dock, it appeared to turn off!!!!!
Finally, I checked the settings and found the brightness setting for on external power was changed to Dim.
I changed that, and now all looks good.
But, now I am concerned about getting a replacement, should something happen to my X5. What do I get, and where do I get it... Something to think about; but I'm OK for now.

Order yourselk a backup X5 off Ebay. I have a backup, just in case. I know its ridiculas, however, I have had many PDA's and love the X5. Store everything on you storgae cards, and have the extra X5 around just in case.
