Do you use AvantGo? You can find a lot of webpages or "channels" as they call it on there. When I have a page I want to keep I just make a custom channel. With that you can use the main The Onion site and it makes each column into nice screen width columns. The only problem is with pictures turned off the line before and after every picture is squished together.

One question, does anybody remember how to set the "depth" of your mobile favorites? My Axim is saving Slashdot's front page each day, but as soon as I click on a link any deeper, it says it can't connect to get the content. I remember somewhere, a depth setting...?

On IE, you can get there through Tools>Synchronize>Setup.

I don't think it will help with /. though. I tried it and it still won't go in deeper than the first page. /. doesn't seem to like IE's "bot" trying to pull in all it's links.

That's okay, I'm having much better luck using AvantGo's "custom channel" feature. It's excellent! You can specify site, size, link depth, images, etc. It's all I need.

You're quite right... it doesn't help when you are talking about AvantGo!

You have to log in to AvantGo's website and manually adjust each channel if you want to overide the standards.

I just right-click the entries in the Mobile Favorites folder and select Properties, and set everything up that way. Probably the same thing as using the Sync dialog.

Is anyone else having probs with PocketPCThoughts.com mobile version lately? It refuses to sync now; I'm wondering if Jason added a no-cache header to it or something?

Nope, works fine here, but you know you have to subscribe now?

He's talking about using it in Mobile Favorites, which is similar to AvantGo. Your Mobile Fav's can be setup to automatically sync with the websites and then with your handheld. It has some advantages over Avantgo:

1) There is no limit to the size of the download, whereas AvantGo has a 2MB account limit (8MB if you pay for the service)

2) The webpages are all reformatted to fit the Ax's screen.

3) You can specify up to 3 links deep, even on Mobile channels that Avantgo locks to 1 or 2 link-depth.
