Now I'm Axim Powered And Impressed

I just recently got my Axim as a gift but noticed it had the PPC2002 OS but thanks to this bad azz site I got the info I needed for the upgrade. I know a lot about desktops but very little on PDAs and I'm very impressed with the Axim. If any of you guys have any tips on usage or additional software/hardware, please holla at me!!

Welcome aboard Motor-1 You have found THE best site for learning all about your new Axim :)

I will give you just a couple of basic tips to get you going.....

I know this sounds silly to say, but read the manual that came with the Axim...a lot of the basics are covered in here. When I first got my Axim, I skimmed through it (hey, manuals are boring) but later found that I actually had to go back and read the whole thing as this was my first pocketpc. I had to get over my initial excitement to just jump right in and actually take the time to figure out what was going on.

Take advantage of the SEARCH feature on this site when you have a question. You will, most times, find answers already available to you from others that have had the same questions.

Go through some of the forums and get a little more fimiliar with the site. Click on the links at the top of the page (reviews, learning center, etc...). Research as much as you can and you will already have an idea of where to search for something if you ever run into a problem. However, by all means, post your questions if you can't find a solution. There are so many wonderful people here at this site more than willing to help out.

As for getting the Axim with 2002 installed instead of 2003....that might actually be somewhat of a benefit (depending on how you look at it). Most users on this site have 2002 and we are all waiting to be able to upgrade to 2003. All of us, at the present time, can help you out with 2002 but few of us are fimiliar with 2003.
If you do plan on upgrading to 2003, my only suggestion would be that you hold off on adding a lot of 3rd party software because some of the software you add MIGHT not be compatible with 2003 and you could end up wasting your money on the 3rd party software. Software companies are in a scramble right now to get their products to work on 2003--some have been more successful than others. Of course, the exception would be free trials...if you want to try out some 3rd party applications, go for the free trials that they offer and then decide if it's something you want to purchase.
There is a Microsoft Mobile 2003 forum here at the site that has a listing of what has been reported as working & not working on 2003, check it out.

Enjoy your Axim & welcome to the site :)

Thanks for the helpful and warm welcome janine248.

I will take you up on your advise and get back into the manual. However it is funny that you approached your axim the same way I did (dive in and learn to swin-lol)

Once again thanks for the help and feel free to hit me up anytime if you need some expert personal training tips!!!
