I bought one when they were first released, and I just could not stick it to the back of my Axim. I did, though, snap it on when I put the Axim in one of my soft cases.

I use it all the time. Well, not all the time; I take it off when I'm using my GPS next to the windshield of my car. Velcro reattaches in a second, and I'm off again. Very convenient for carrying Axim in pants pocket with minimal added bulk. I'm a big fan.

My first PDA was a Jornada 548, it had a flip top cover. This one works just as well and it stays in place. Protects my screen and does not add bulk to the device.
I've been using "flips" since day 1 - had a flip cover with my first PDA, Handspring Visor Deluxe (custom leather cover was just too bulky); switched to HP Jornada 548 which came with a "flip" cover, and when upgrading to AXIM decided to go with what works for me, the aluminum flip cover from ThePocketSolution.
Didn't like the looks of the velcro attachment from photos but have come to accept it as normal & don't find it bothersome. It does allow for quick removal of the cover, if desired (I've only done so twice).
Overall, a nice product: keeps a streamlined profile, doesn't add extra weight and provides the protection that you need for the screen.
From the picture, this thing looks like it would be a bit in the way when open. The curved part that wraps around the top does not look flexible. Is it?

Yes and no - the cover does NOT flip completely open, and you are correct, the connection from the hinge (that attaches to the velcro attachment to the AXIM) is a solid piece - as thick as the AXIM, and solid as it extends into the cover itself.
Problem? Not really. When in the cradle the cover stays flipped open, completely out of the way. When out of the cradle the open cover actually acts a "stand" holding the AXIM at an angle if it is sitting on a flat surface.
The cover "flips" closed just like Capt. Kirk's communicator in Star Trek.
Gotta admit that a full case would offer better protection from a drop, but I didn't want to sacrafice the size issue.
bad news raptor13. They don't sell it anymore. I've been hoping the would start again but it doesn't seem like they will. A possible replacment would be the bulldog cover. It's made by an axim owner and aximsite member who wanted a simple cover. check it out at www.BullGuardCovers.com
weird ... why not buy a good leather case instead - Like Piel Frama, then the leather enables protection for the whole Axim and also flips back for ease of use.
Mainly because of the bulk that it adds to the Ax. I don't know about anybody else but I can't stand a bulky case, I carry my ax around in my front pocket. Also the part that needs the most protection is the screen. that's what these type cases do protect the screen. From the drop stories I've read on this site, the ax is pretty sturdy, except for the screen.
I've had many, many requests for a flip version and it's very hard to do and manufacture by hand. All my covers are hand made and until lightning strikes me and I have a simple solution all I offer is the simple cover. You can read the whole development of the cover in the thread "who's interested in a simple cover" Just plug that into search and you'll see it.
