Ship Date?

Has anyone ordered an Axim within the past week or so? Are they really backordered about 3wks? I'm just curious if Dell is shipping out sooner than promised...I hope so.

I ordered on the 18th (actually the 16th but thats another story) and the system is still telling me Feb 10th as a ship date and the 13th-17th is the estimated in my hands date. I hope to god that they speed it up somehow. My extra battery shipped on the 20th I should have it today :-) Maybe I will just start carrying that around for a bit...

On a side note this is giving me a chance to go out and find the accessoried I want.

Sounds like the 3+ weeks is what we are going to have to live with, I ordered on the 10th, and my expected ship date is Feb 4th.

Yep, my Axim is going to take 3 weeks or more to ship also, funny that I ordered my compact flash cards after the axim and yet they are all here waiting to dock with the axim. I wish Dell had notified me or posted something on their web site about the back order, I wouldnt have gotton so pissed then. I think their customer service sucks......

Somewhere on their website during the order process it gave me a date or at least an assembly time frame. It wasn't that far off. It would have been easy to miss but its there somewhere.

Yeah, same boat here. Ordered jan 10, projected to ship Feb 4. Waiting impatiently.

The very nice customer service Dude I spoke with told me that he wasn't officially able to tell me anything other than the projected ship date, but he did say that Dell has a very good record of beating their ship dates. Maybe, just maybe, he might be telling me the truth.

I was on an airplane a few days ago, and the woman sitting next to me HAD A BRAND NEW AXIM!!! I actually got to see it and touch it. They really do exist! MAN, I can't wait to get my very own!!!

The ordering process DOES tell you the ship date up front as soon as you select the CUSTOMIZE IT option.

I ordered a 300 on Jan 2nd and switched to a 400 on the 8th. Ship date was for Jan 30th, however, the status page said it shipped today!!! So maybe the log jam is starting to clear

My hopes is yes. If yours shipped then maybe I'll be lucky enough to see mine ship tommorrow (ordered the same item the day after yours).

Did yours ship today or did it ship yesterday and reflect on the website today?

As to ship dates, here is what I've figured out for my case:
When you select the Axim and go through the order process, it tells you what to expect datewise, however, when they e-mail you a order confirmation it generates a ship date for the confirmation. At first I (and it seems others) mistook this for a ship date for the Unit itself :( Dell needs to clean-up that little item as I believe it leads to a great deal of frustration for their customers. It looks like 2-3 weeks is about normal right now. I ordered knowing there would be a delay, I know it will be worth the wait. But here's something that leaves me wondering if the left hand know what the right is doing. It has been pointed out that this is the first item Dell has farmed out for production(not including cameras and printers and such). I noticed all the delayed orders people reference are "in production" status, yet one of the magazine arcticle referenced on these boards quoted a Dell official as saying the delay was not the fault of the supplier ?!? I find that combination of information a bit puzzling.

Ordered mine on Dec 27th, recieved it last night at 6pm.

I think Dell could have handled the backlog order issue much better, but I think it was well worth the wait also! :D

Well, I ordered my 300mhz Axim on 1/4, and I was told it would ship on 1/20, and then on 1/28, and now on 2/5!

I ordered no accessories.

Grrrrrrrrrr! I ordered Jan. 4 and mine's not even shipping until Feb. 5!

A Dell CS rep guessed that mine will be shipped 10 days early, by the end of next week.

I ordered on 1\14 and estimated ship date is 2\5.

I talked to a customer service rep last night and she told me that they just couldn't keep the axim's coming as fast as the orders are arriving. Makes sense, she told me they weren't expecting as much response as they have been getting.
