Linux OS

Hello All,

Is there any possiblity to install the linux OS on the Axim, instead of the Pocket PC 2002 ?

I mean legally and technically.

I don't see why it would be illegal...after all, you bought both. Whether you choose to use it is up to you. So far.

As far as technically, it sure is possible. Feasible? No. Probable? Even bigger No. It has been done for the Ipaq, and there are even pda's with a native linux already installed. But will it ever be easy for Joe Schmoe to do it? Nope. It probably won't even be as easy as installing linux on your desktop. It could be done, like I said, but it would be someone fiddling in their basement. This is a case where if you have to ask, the answer is no.
And as far as usuability, so far, the pocketpc has more bells and whistles than a linux installation could provide. And if you don't want the bells and whistles, then you should use a pencil and notepad. (Or a palm :P )

I don't know whether you can get Linux on the Ax, but I do know you can't go back. Sooner or later, Microsoft will have a cool OS upgrade and Dell will come out with a Flash upgrade program. Until then, it's a one-way trip.
