How does one UNinstall software safely?

Another question on downloads...

When you're installing a downloaded file and it asks you if you want to replace a file that's already on your Axim, should you say yes?

And if the file it wants to install on the Axim is older than the one already there what do you do?

I'm afraid to ruin anything, but the shopping list I downloaded (shoppinglist2.2) won't work properly (I told it not to overwrite the newer-dated file on my Axim with the older one it wanted to install).

Confused and kinda realizing I'm never gonna get a shopping list on this thing in my lifetime...lol

I like the Arn Cota Shopper program. It's simple and easy to use without too much unnecessary crap.
