I hope someone can help me out here. Until this past week, I have been able to sync with all Outlook data just fine. On Monday, when I set my Axim in the cradle to sync, I got the following message on my PC:

"Synchronization cannot be completed because Microsoft Outlook cannot open the Contact folder. Close Outlook and then start Outlook again. Once Outlook is running, disconnect your mobile device and reconnect. If the problem persists, reinstall Outlook."

I CAN sync my Inbox, Files, AvantGo.

I CANNOT sync Contacts, Tasks, and Calendar now (I used to be able to just fine).

I have Outlook 2000 and ActiveSync 3.6 here at work on a PC using Windows 2000. My e-mail, calendar, and contacts are on the Exchange server.

Here is what I have tried (none of these worked):

Closed and opened Outlook and then resynched.
Ran Detect and Repair.
Resintalled Outlook.
Uninstalled Outlook and then reinstalled Outlook.
Uninstalled Microsoft Office and then reinstalled Office.
Uninstalled ActiveSync 3.6 and then reinstalled ActiveSync 3.6.
Uninstalled ActiveSync 3.6 and then installed ActiveSync 3.5.
Uninstalled ActiveSync 3.5 and then reinstalled ActiveSync 3.6.
Deleted my Partnership and then added a new one.
Performed a soft reset on my Axim.
Deleted my Contacts and then added a test Contact back in.
Restored my Contacts to what it was previously.
Removed Microsoft Exchange Server from Services in my Profile and then added it back in.
Removed my Profile and then added a new one.
Screamed and then screamed some more.

I am very frustrated right now. My Axim is a little useless if I cannot sync my Contacts, Tasks, and Calendars.

Any thoughts on what happened and how I can fix this? I cannot find a solution on Microsoft's Knowledge Base or by doing a search in Google. I have talked to our System Admin and he is out of ideas.

Thanks in advance for any help that you can give.

I am still having problems with this. I thought I'd bump this up to see if anyone out there can help.

itstim: I have similiar problems with my ActiveSync and my Outlook Calendar. Also very nice detailed write-up of your problem and troubleshooting steps.

On my win2k workstation at work I was syncing my calendar with my Outlook 2000 client connected to Exchange 2000. When I updated to Outlook 2002 I now can no longer sync my calendar. In my desktop Active Sync Options I do not get a check box and settings are greyed out for calendar. The same problem also exists for Contacts but I was not syncing them. Inbox, AvantGo, etc still sync fine and I can browse folders.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled ActiveSync .5 and 3.6 , no luck.

I am getting close to doing a full back-up and a Hard Reset !

PS Nice Baltimore Orioles Icon ! How 'bout dem O's Hon? Native Marylander here.

Cool I found a solution!!

Click on the Tools menu in outlook. Select the other tab.. then select advanced options in the general section. Click the COM Add-Ins button. Make sure you see Outlook Synchronization in the Add_Ins available section. If not, then click add then browse to c:\program files\microsoft office\office\SBCMSYNC.dll. Click ok wherever appropriate. Exit and log off of outlook. Launch outlook then try to synch your PDA. Voila... it should work.

I had to figure this all out by myself....no previous help was found.

Have you considered trying MS Activesync 3.7.1? I use it with windows XP (at home) and Windows 2000 Pro (at work). I experience no problems synchronzing between the tow machines.

Go here:
http://forums.us.dell.com/supportfor...essage.id=2601

Read the part regarding dropped activesynch.
I bought a 4-port self-powered 2.0 USB HUB that is back compatible with older versions of USBs and now ALL of my synch problems are gone.
