This may be old news, but Dell took the d-pad patch off it's site. I understand from Rollie, their moderator, the engineers found some problems with it and are now trying to 'patch the patch. Rollie said it will be reposted when they get it fixed. Someone had posted several days ago, a work-around for people having trouble w/ said d-pad patch. I guess this finally caught someone's attention and Dell decided to fix it.

I downloaded the patch but have not installed it. Is there a problem with it that I should not install it. Also the problem I am having is when reading books with Microsoft Reader when I use the button to advance to the next page I get key bounce or something that will advance two or three pages. Was this fix supposed to fix that problem?

So asks the Toydriver.

I would assume since Dell pulled it from their web site, you should not install it. Wait until they post the updated patch.

Same problem I experienced when reading ebooks. I thought it might be because I was pressing it too hard. Guess I'll look for the patch for the patch! ;)

I took care of my key bounce in reader by changing the repeat key times.
Start>settings>buttons>up/down control

I moved the "delay before first repeat" slider to two units from the right.

Seems to have done the trick.

I use the scroll wheel for reading e-books instead of the D-Pad. It works much better.

Dell's actually fixing the installation on XP - it doesn't properly install.

Weird error, and I can't explain it - but it did happen to me, but that's all - nothing interesting, no major fixes to their... um... fix.

That worked for me pretty good. Also using the scroll dial on the side works really well as mentioned in the message after the one I quoted. Help like that is one of the things that makes this site so good.
