I can't get my ebooks on my axim from Microsoft free e-books. Every time I download a free ebook, it goes to my pc not my axim. Help, I have tried to reinstall but it doesn't work.

they're supposed to go to your PC. they are saved in a folder called "My Library" in your My Documents folder. all you have to do is copy them onto your device.

Did you try

The MS Reader saga has been an on going issue and since the upgrade it has gotten worse. Have you transfered your books to the AX? I usually download stright to an SD card or to a folder on my hard drive and then jsut drag and drop them into the SD or the AX. Have the battle when your getting started is identifying the default location that MS Reader puts the files into. You did not say which version your using (Not that it should matter). If you do a search here on the MS reader you will find at least a dozen posts that may help you.
Good luck.

I had the same problem trying to read books with Microsoft Reader. It turned out that the reader that was loaded on my new Axim was an old version. When I went to Micorsoft's Reader site and installed the new version, I was able to read the books just fine. Good luck!

Also, make sure you download the update in the same location as the previous version.

I had to do a full install of MS reader onto main memory before it could access the books. Consider that your last resort.

Exactly guys...

1. Download updated reader software from here.

2. Activate reader like before.

3. Copy .lit file over to axim and open like before.

OR

Feel that MS Reader is more trouble than its work and go here to download the Pocket PC version of this reader program that works and books that are not a pain to download or install. ;)

I just loaded it and downloaded a few books in the Palm format and so far it is not impressing me on the book install. I'll keep at it until I get it workgin though.

I've used it ever since I've gotten my Axim. What part of loading the books is giving you a headache?

Just geting the system to recogize them. I keep getting interupted by "WORK" stuff....of all the nerve. I have a ton of E-books in the MS LIT format so I am trying to get a few on my SD with the Palm format. I'll get it. One thing though one of the nice things about MS reader was that if I used EZunzip to unzip a Lit book the MS reader would recognize it and take off this does not appear to be the case with the Palm setup.

My experiance was as follows:
I have a new Axim 400 with WM2003
The Reader software revision in the ROM is revision 2.2.1
With this revision I was unable to read the latest ebooks on the Microsoft site (although I could read others)
(and "yes" MS reader did report that I had activated it correctly)
However, once I had downloaded and installed the latest reader, revision 2.2.2
(saying "Yes" to any file replacements)
All my reader problems went away...
Check your Revision on page 3 of MS Reader settings
(if page 3 is fonts you have a really old version)

James, I don't know about this

Well I got at least one book to open but it is very fragmented and the images are not showing like they do with MS READER. The free version of the Palm reader does not appear to allow me to access the SD card where I store most of my stuff. tehre msut be a setting or two that I have not found yet to make things work like i want it to. I did use this reader way back in my Palm days (earlier version of course). I did download it to my desk top and same situation. Graphics do not show and all hyper links show up as well as formating breaks.
