I'm still anxiously awaiting my Axim (ordered it 1-13, expected to arrive about 2-9), and I'm kinda planning what I'll be doing with it. I'm in calculus right now, so I'll definitely load the HP49G emulator on, but I was wondering if anybody knows the speed/quality of console emulators for the Axim. In particular, the following: GB, NES, SNES, Genesis. I'll be getting the 300Mhz version if that makes a difference in speed, can anybody tell me if I'm getting in over my head with the emulator thing?
I've got the Pocket NES and it plays games perfectly. The sound could use some help and if I have some applications open the emulator will freeze once in a while. The 'save' and 'load' option are great so you can save a game to an exact spot on a level or whatever. Plus all the games for that emulator are free. :D

I'm a big fan of YameCE. I have a 400 and I notice that on PocketNES the sound chops out quite a bit.
But with Yame, it's smooth as can be. And Yame also supports SNES and a few other systems (I haven't been able to get the TG-16 emulation working in Yame, yet, but it's there!).
However, don't expect perfect control using the D-Pad. It works, but don't try to play something that's button-mashing intensive, it just DOES NOT work! :(
I'd love to see a little snap-on control stick ala the GameBoy systems for the Axim. I'd buy it, and I'd use it...
Anyway, s'my two cents.

I've expereicned the same thing with pocketNES , i.e. sound issues.. however yame works well.. I've found, however, that there are a bunch of roms that won't play in yameCE but play in other emulators on windows.
SNES emulators are kind of slow, but if all you want to play is RPG games then you should not have much of a problem. I use MorphGear for GB, GBC, and NES and it works great. Yes, you have to pay for it, but I had the money a few years ago. :D
