Sync Built-in-Storage

Is there any way to sync the built in storage with microsoft activesync? I placed all of my documents in that folder, and I would like to syncronize them like normal. Does anyone know of a registry hack or something that will possibly make this work?

Thanks

If you made a "My Documents" folder in the Built-in, it should work like the "My Documents" folder in the other memory cards...;)

Is there a third party app, or a registry tweak that would let this happen?

There ya' go.

BTW, I would not use Built In Storage that way.

1. It's slow, the slowest of the memory available.
2. There is a limit to the number of writes to that memory, something on the order of 10,000, as opposed to millions on the Main Storage and either SD or CF cards.

BIS is the leftover memory in ROM, so to write to it, Dell provided a hidden utility that actually does the reading/writing. But ROM is not RAM, and is not designed for heavy I/O. 10,000 sounds like a lot, but if you write just thirteen times a day to that memory, the 10,000 will only last you about two years. If you are editing or changing or even just opening the documents in Built-In Storage you could get to that 13/day pretty quickly.

Thanks for the great information. I didnt realize that there was a limit on the number of i/o operations to the rom. What is the reason for this? Would the ROM fail after 2 years of constant i/o like this?

Thanks

ROM is not really designed for I/O. It's Read Only Memory, which some folks forget. You CAN write to it, but it's not designed for heavy use. It's good for the operating system because it can be read easily, and it's nice for some uses. I put my backups in to BIS so that if I have to do a hard reset I have the backups with me to restore. (Make sure you put the restore program itself there, too, or you have a "d'oh" moment!)

It won't somehow trigger a failure on the 10,000th write. It's just that the chips themselves are rated at about 10,000 writes. You might get one that lasts forever, or you might get one that dies right at 10,000. I generally write once a week, to copy my backup and delete the old backup. That's technically 3 writes - one for the new file, one for the directory change, one to update the directory to delete the old backup. I do the backup to the SD card first, then copy from there to BIS. That way if it fails I still have the old backup on BIS.

Yes, I'm paranoid. But being paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out go get you!
